How and when will I get my bond back?
Once you have given notice to vacate the property manager will be on contact with you to arrange a final inspection with you. Here they check that the property is in a reasonably clean standard and if there is any damage done to the property. If it is not in a reasonable clean standard you will have to go back and clean it and once this is to a reasonable standard you will receive a bond claim form. Here you will need to complete the form and then the agent will send it to the RTBA. If all the details are filled out correctly on the form and you will be receiving it back into your bank account, it takes 2 business days from when the RTBA receive it to get back into your account. If you are receiving this by cheque it can take several weeks.

If there is one other thing I can say about vacating your home and leaving it clean is that things can often get missed or forgotten about- Don’t forget the range hood and exhaust fans!!! These need to be cleaned too and seem to get missed!!!
Thanks for a great article. I’m currently sharing with a married couple and all 3 of us are on the lease. I’ll be moving out when my tenancy expires, but I think they will be staying. What forms do I hand in to remove me from the lease, and do I ask my flatmates for the bond back, or the landlord?
thanks for your help!
